What Is Amazon A+ Content - Indie Publishing Group

What’s Amazon A+ Content, and if you’ve self-published through Amazon KDP, why aren’t you using it?

As a self-published author, it’s up to you to handle all aspects of publishing, including features such as Amazon A+ content available to authors who self-publish via Amazon KDP.

Amazon A+ Content lets authors and publishers who have an Amazon Author Central account add enhanced visual or written sections to a Kindle Direct Publishing book page, giving buyers and readers more context before purchase.

If you haven’t already, check out our article, Amazon Author Central: Why First-Time Authors Need It, to learn more about the importance of Author Central.

We cover everything there is to know about the most popular self-publishing platforms in Canada, including Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), IngramSpark Publishing, Apple Books, and many more.

What You Can Add With A+ Content

A+ Content lets you include structured sections made up of images, text, and comparison tables. These sections clearly explain the book in a more visual way than a standard description alone. Authors often use this space to highlight what readers will find in the book or show how it fits within a series.

Where A+ Content Appears on Amazon

Your Amazon A+ Content will be displayed on your book’s Amazon marketplace listing in the From the Publisher section. It appears below the main book description and typically requires the shopper to scroll to view it.

Who Can Use A+ Content?

A+ Content is available for books already published through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. One A+ Content Layout can be applied to multiple ASINs, allowing the same content to be used over different formats of the same book. For example, if you have a series, you can create series content and add it to each book.

How A+ Content Is Created

You build A+ Content inside the A+ Content Manager, located within the KDP Marketing area. Authors select preset layout modules and add images and text into those sections before submitting the content for review. It’s not the most user-friendly graphic design setup, or the quickest, but once you’ve had a chance to learn it, you’ll be able to create and update your A+ content much faster.

Availability by Marketplace

You must create A+ Content for each Amazon marketplace individually. At the moment, Amazon doesn’t allow you to upload your content to one central marketplace and add it to individual marketplaces. Only those marketplaces that support the selected language display the content, and customers see it in their preferred language.

Content Approval and Rules

All A+ Content is reviewed by Amazon before it goes live. Content must follow specific guidelines, and anything that does not meet Amazon’s requirements may be rejected and require revisions before publication.

What Is Amazon A+ Content? | Conclusion

A+ content is another useful tool Amazon provides to self-published authors, but it’s no good if you’re not using it! Getting your A+ content right can take some adjustment, but once you have your templates set up, you can tweak them to suit different books much faster.
