Fran Fitzpatrick is excited to be a freshman majoring in journalism at the University of Prince Edward Island and working at the Golden Spud campus newspaper. Having grown up in Toronto, she’s certain that living on the quaint Canadian island with her elderly aunt and uncle will be a sedate experience—that is, until she finds the body of Victor Cargo, an unpopular student and fellow reporter at the paper, in a paddock near the university campus.
When Terry James, the Golden Spud’s editor, finds himself the police department’s prime suspect, he asks Fran to help him investigate the crime and clear his name. She’s uncertain who she can trust among her new acquaintances—students, professors, a local café owner, even Terry himself—but she can’t resist the opportunity to jump into investigative reporting and solve a murder.
Can Fran help find the killer, absolving Terry of the crime, or will her meddling in a police investigation put herself and her loved ones in danger?
