As a Self-Published Author, What Book Are You Working On this Winter?

As a Self-Published Author, What Book Are You Working On this Winter

While the snow or cold settles in, it’s the perfect time for any self-published author to finish off that unfinished book and finally get it published!

I think, as a self-published author, we’ve all probably got a book or project sitting around, not complete. Patiently waiting for us to finish it. But unfortunately, when the sun is shining, and the weather’s warm, it’s often hard to find the motivation. Who wants to sit and write or work on the second draft of your manuscript or any of the other endless tasks that need to be completed as an author while it’s beautiful outside? Not me!

Well, there are no excuses now about it being a nice day outside! It’s cold, wet, and maybe even a little snowy outside, depending on where in the world you live. If you’re lucky enough to be in some tropical paradise, sipping cocktails on the beach, then all the power to you! However, for a lot of us, it’s wintertime. It’s the perfect time to sit down at your computer or laptop with a hot chocolate and work on that unfinished project that’s been gathering dust. self-published author winter

Personally, we’ve just pushed through and completed book 11 in our Hockey Wars Series. It’s one of our quickest turnarounds yet between books. However, with four more books left in the series, we decided to try and speed up the timeline. We wanted to get this series completed. It’s not selling any books sitting inside our heads or on my laptop.

That doesn’t mean you have to rush through your book. However, while the weather outside is terrible, it’s a great opportunity to sit down inside and write. Perhaps work on the outline or draft for that next book or even do some social media and marketing. There’s always something to do!

Self-Published Authors Always Have Work to Do!

Unfortunately, as self-published authors, there’s not often when you can sit down and have nothing to do. There’s always another Instagram post. Another book group to check, or just an unfinished manuscript waiting for a little love and attention. It’s fun being a self-published author, but no one said it would be easy!

Right now, we’re working on rebuilding our author website, social media accounts, and profiles and re-designing some of the book covers in our earlier releases. The more you start looking, the more you realize there’s always work to be done!

Being a self-published author can be extremely rewarding. However, there are not many self-published authors out there who aren’t grinding away on their books or projects around the clock. Many of us have regular jobs, and for a lot, self-publishing is a second job. This means most work is done after hours. After the house has settled down, the kids have been fed, the animals are tucked away for the night, and everything else has been done.
