Author Interview with the very talented Canadian author Deb Crunican!

Hi, Deb Crunican. Welcome to the Indie Publishing Group website! Introduce yourself to us. Tell everyone who you are, where you’re from, what you enjoy doing, and your hobbies and interests.

Introduce yourself to us!

Hi, I’m Deb Crunican. I’m from Denfield, Ontario. I live on a farm with my husband, our four children, and our dog, Holly, and I enjoy all things crafty, 80s music, yoga, and a good cup of coffee!  I am a retired occupational therapist with a newfound joy in writing children’s books.

Have you got anything you’re working on now?

I just finished my second book, and it is going to be released in May! I do have an idea stirring for the next one.

What is your preferred genre to write in?

Children’s picture books.

What was the hardest part of self-publishing?

Getting started!! And the social media part for me is the area that is least comfortable, but luckily, I have 4 teenagers!

What’s your writing process?

That’s a good question! I’ve never really sat down and decided to start writing a book. My first book, Each One Matters, was a random idea that came to me one morning, and I just started writing. The second book, Teegan and the Teeny Tiny TICK has been a nagging idea I’ve had for a while, and I started writing it in my head while walking my dog!

Which book is your favorite and why?

The first book, of course, is very special to me because it was the first, and it has such a simple message about kindness and inclusion! But the second one is incredibly important to me. A tick bite in 2016 turned my life completely upside down, and now I just really want to help spread awareness, not in a frightening way but in a cute, kid-friendly way.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

My favourite children’s authors are Dr. Suess and Robert Munch.
