Author Interview With Izzibella Beau
Hi, Izzibella Beau welcome to the Indie Publishing Group website! Introduce yourself to us. Tell everyone who you are, where you’re from, what you enjoy doing, your hobbies and interests.
Hi, everyone. I’m Izzi. I live in middle Georgia right now but have lived everywhere from California, to Pennsylvania, to Florida, with a lot of other states in-between. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh PA, so yep, I’m one of those rowdy Steelers fans. I love writing, reading, taking long walks, warm weather, and of course football. I have three adult children, two boys, and one girl, who are currently pursuing college degrees. I also have twenty-six canine babies of various breeds and ages. With my household, it’s always busy and hectic here.
When did you start writing and why?
I started writing professionally in 2012. My first book was titled Broken and was the first in the Assumptions Series. I guess I started writing because of the encouragement from my husband. I kept telling him all my ideas, and he suggested that I start writing. Also, as most authors can attest, we write to get the voices out our heads. Sometimes it gets so loud in there with so many characters talking all at once that we write several stores simultaneously.
Which is your favorite book you have written and what gave you the idea for it?
Hmm, my favorite book that I’ve written. That’s a hard one since all my characters are special to me. I liked writing the When Separate Worlds Collie series. The role of Jacob is fun to write, he’s always so angry, but lovable at the same time. I got the idea for the series by reading and watching paranormal shows. I incorporated people and places that I know into the story so it would all be familiar to me and easier to write.
How did you come up with the title for your book?
Most of my titles come from songs. I listen to music as I think about writing a story. Individual lines and words capture my attention, and I think they describe the book perfectly, so I use them. The only book that doesn’t come from a song is ‘Somewhere In-Between. This title describes the ‘world’ that the two main characters are caught in.
Who helped you with the cover? Or did you design it yourself? What was your inspiration for your cover design?
I usually design my own covers, sometimes with a little help, but I pick out what I want the cover to look like. The Somewhere In-Between cover was done professionally. I saw it on a website and was like ‘oh my, that is so perfect for the book.’
What are some of the themes of your story?
Romance. Finding oneself. Overcoming obstacles. I like to give the reader a sense of realism while having the characters find different solutions to their problems.
What’s your process when you sit down and decide to start writing a book and do you have a system?
First, it’s all about the music. I have to listen to songs before any thought process on storylines can happen. Then, most of the time, it all flows together. There are down times when no characters talk to me, so I have to go on a hiatus from writing.
Who are some of your favorite characters and why?
I love the Assumptions Series characters. They’re fun to write, So much drama all the time.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
I have a new favorite author with every book I read. Authors that I grab latest releases every time they come out are Gracie Wilson, Ju Ephraime, and Jami Brumfield.
Have you got anything you’re working on now?
I’m working on five new older YA books. Ones that promise lots of romance and drama. I’m also redoing the entire Assumptions series so be on the lookout for a new book by the end of 2019.
If you could have any superpowers what would they be?
Teleportation, invisibility, and maybe to live until I’m like 200 years old or so.
If you could travel to any location in the world where would you go?
I want to travel to every National park in the United States. I love animals and nature so being outdoors is always on my mind.
Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
I would like to have at least one indie film produced and maybe one book hitting the top ten best sellers chart. But if not, then I’ll keep writing and throwing myself out there for everyone to see.
